A BOX
O that all children should have a box….or two…..
maybe one that housed a shoe
or a tube of sticky glue.
Transformed to be a zany zoo
where cows moo
doves coo
to the distant sound of a kazoo.
A secret inn to invite friends for tea,
or sit a teddy on their knee.
A hidden corner where minds run free
Why bother with lock and key.
A playful world of dazzling colours
for sharing with aunts, cousins, friends and brothers,
and all who may drop by as others.
A box in a box in a box
for socks
or rocks.
Or even frocks.
A cottage where they can stand tall
roll a ball
or curl up small.
In their secluded magic hall.
Their own dwelling to laugh and giggle
allowed to scribble and squiggle.
Who cares how much they wriggle?
Sometimes home can be a riot
so little ones dream of quiet.
And the box; you don’t have to buy it.
It’s so much fun, please do try it!
They can retreat inside with their beads
knowing Allah loves them and fulfills their needs,
listening to all their innocent pleads
Precious hearts bursting with love seeds.
A private sanctuary where they can pray
after their active games and play.
A peaceful moment at the end of the day
I wonder what it is they say?

Assalamualaikum dear sister,
Mashallah great poem! A box is always an amazing thing for a young mind! Even my cat loves boxes, I think they’re his favorite toy
In fact he sleeps in a box (covered by an old coats lining) even though he has a perfect little ‘cat bed’ which I bought
May Allah Ta’ala remind us all of the innocence of children, May He Azawajal protect them always and guide them towards His Infinite Oneness, ameen.

Assalamu alaikum Ya Big Kid….oh aren’t we all at heart, Alhumdulillah!
Reminds me of so many cat stories from long ago, and of the Madian felines…the Mubarak dust being their bed, SubhanAllah. Ameen to your Du’a for all our little ones.
Dear Brother Ikramuddin….:) to your cat choosing a simple box instead of his fancy bed! He must know the rewards in living a simple life!
Dear Umm Yusuf…I think you will need more than two boxes for the WHOLE family to play in!! Great to see you dear Maryam and Asiayh, taking time off from your Tahfiz…and sparking some wonderful scenes as I press the replay button. But where are Y and I??? I think I will go and crawl into my box and sulk if I do not see them here soon. LOL!
Yes, Dear wayfarer…and ALL…boxes can release so much creativity and are a fun way of connecting, especially when whole families “play”…Insha’Allah you all find one or two…or six…or more!

As-salaamu Alaikum!
Universal Children’s Day! Amazing post. Khala Noor you’ll be pleased to learn that I received the sweetest handmade card today from little Sidra Yasin – Mariam Yasin’s little niece who had the operation recently. It was the most wonderful surprise this morning – 5 fishes swimming and her handwritten message. May Allah ta’ala grant her a speedy recovery, amin.
Funny cat habits! Our cat will not sleep in her basket too!
wasalaam,

Assalamu alaikum….I can now come out of sulking seeing Yusuf and Ismail AND the T have made comments! Dear Ismail…I WANT TO SEE YOU SEEING THE KAABAH AND MADINAH TOO!!! Insha’Allah we all keep making lots of Du’a! Sounds like you were busy with helping getting Grandpa’s dinner Yusuf, Alhumdulillah! yes we made some great things during that time, Insha’Allah we are given the opportunity to do similar things when you come here.
Glad you enjoyed this child-like diversion nq!
Dear Ukhti Farah, your gift sounds so cute, Masha’Allah! I am so happy little Sidra is able to be drawing and writing, may Allah Ta’ala continue to bless her progress and she is able to participate in all activites loved by little girls, Ameen. Your cat must be a Zahid like Brother Ikramuddin’s too!
