Sahl bin Abdallah Rahmatullah alaihi was asked of trust. He said, “It is a heart that lives with God Most High without attachment to anything else.”
Abi Ali al-Daqqaq Rahmatullah alaihi said, “Those who trust possess three degrees: trust (tawakkul), surrender (taslim) and self abandonment (tafwid). The man of trust relies upon His promise. The man of surrender finds His knowledge sufficient. The man of self abandonment is well satisfied with His judgement. Trust is a beginning, surrender a middle, and self abandonment an end.”
Shaykh ‘Abd al-Qadir a-Jilani Rahmatullah alaihi said of trust, “It is the preoccupation of the inner most being (sirr) with Allah, Exalted is He, to the exclusion of any other than Him. When someone puts all his trust in the Lord, he forgets whatever he used to rely on, for His sake, and depends on Him entirely, to the exclusion of all apart from Him. He thereby ascends from the shame of nonentity (fana) to the state of absolute trust.”
All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.
