‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud RadhiAllahu anhu related that the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: Earning an honest living is a duty next to the principal duties of Iman.  (Bayhaqi)

‘Umar bin al-Khattab RadhiAllahu anhu narrated that the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: Pay a worker his wages before the sweat dries on his brow.  (Ibn Majah)

Ibn ‘Umar RadhiAllahu anhu reported that the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: Whoever buys a garment with ten dirhams in which even only one dirham is earned unlawfully will not have his prayer accepted by Allah the Almighty, as long as the garment lasts upon his body. (Ahmad and Bayhaqi)

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

  3. The picture reminded me of the workers who serve on the cleanup crews at the Masjid Al Haram. One of them I saw was definitely of the awliya. I saw him on two separate occasions, which can be rare in the crowded Masjid. He had a face full of Nur, was constantly reciting salawat or other adhkar, and had a warmth around him that was noticeable. His outward task in this world is to keep the area around the Ka’aba clean so he spends his days close to the house of Allah. What a blessing! That a humble janitor (many other workers seemed bored and rather inured to their surroundings) had such a high station made me really reflect on what I’m doing in this world.

  4. Wa ‘alaikumus Salam Dear Umm-e-Shiraaz…yes I clicked this post just before Fajr as the connection went down at midnight. A wonderful thought that the Ummah are in a state of Ibadah throughout the world throughout the day and night…not one second where there is not some one turning to Makkah SubhanAllah. You all remain in my very humble Du’a…may Barakah be spread just for the effort of raising the hands, Ameen. Especially for Dear Faqir, Mabruk, Masha’Allah…so many dear ones married or about to marry at the moment…may your coming together be a means of strengthening the Ummah and bring untold happiness to all you embark on as you journey the Path to Him, Ameen. I tried emailing you…but it bounced back again.
JazakumuLlahu khairan for sharing this Dear Baba…many of the selfless staff exude such a presence and many leave professional positions in their home countries for months of the year just for the honour of offering Khidmah in the Haramain, SubhanAllah. The photo was taken in Makkah…I would be in tears seeing the hundreds of construction workers ambling to the Masjid, removing their boots, and more often than not they did not even have socks on, and when Salat was finished they would stretch for a short rest on the marble of the courtyard. They too are so dedicated to such strenuous work for the ultimate benefit of the pilgrim, enduring harsh conditions for such a small return. May they all have huge rewards in Jannah, Ameen, and the families they leave behind be in Allah Ta’ala’s care and protection, Ameen.
    Wassalamu alaikum
