Madinah is bursting at the seams with new estates booming on the outskirts of the second ring road. Housing projects are on the rise as locals from the inner city areas are forced to find alternative accommodation as all prime land near Masjid Nabawi is snapped up for hotel complexes. News this week that the Date Market is to be relocated to make way for more hotels is a surprise as it is currently in an ideal location for pilgrims.

How sad to see our blessed lands becoming so developed, leaving little of our illustrious history behind. So much has already been destroyed - one wishes they would just leave things as they are and just control the amount of people that come in each year, as well as how frequent those visits are i.e. for hajj etc.
Khair…the luminous cities will always shine for us alhamdulillah.
