99 beads [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 8:46 pm

What seems long long long ago on the island of Santorini a rosary was gifted to me by the priest of a Carmelite Monastery.  For a small fee one could stay in rooms within the inner courtyard close to where the cloistered nuns lived in total seclusion from the world. I was told some had been there for more than sixty years! They would regularly attend a service seated behind wooden screens as they chanted various litanies. One can imagine how many trillions of rosaries they would have completed.

While on this same island a silver mala, ‘garland’ (Buddhist prayer beads) was purchased.  Traditionally these beads total 108. An auspicious number for Buddhists. Tibetan women divide their long dark hair into 108 small plaits. A mantra would be recited for each bead.

Fascinating how fundamentally the innate nature of man’s desire is submission, seeking various, but also similar methods in attempting to dive to depths divine.

Sometime later whilst still searching for Truth, thinking it was to be found in Tibet where I happened to be, this silver mala broke. It was in a tiny earthen floor hut when the beads scattered in all directions. Try as I may I could only retrieve 99 beads. Just as the thread shattered, so it seemed did my soul at the time. I carefully wrapped the 99 beads in a cloth, securely tying and placing them in one of the inner pouches of the back pack. This seemingly insignificant incident was to be a momentous and symbolic turning point in my seeking. An inner knowing knew it was time to change direction, to shake the spiritual journey.  In retrospect, the number ninety-nine was a profound sign.

Unlike the flimsy thread that these beads were strung upon, the thread that Allah Ta’ala connects with His creation is sturdy and resistant. However mankind tends to thwart and sabotage this union with so many banal excuses; arrogance, ignorance, neglect, laziness. Alhumdulillah Allah Ta’ala often responds to such futile attempts when He sees the slightest tug, firmly pulling the one lost towards Him and His Way.

I believe the practices and traditions I gleaned from many other disciplines formed a structure and training for the blessing of Islam that followed. The sublime and intrinsic relationship with Al-Khaliq and His most Beloved SallAllahu alaihi wasallam transformed what appeared to be a fragile thread from my side into what felt like a steel cable. SubhanAllah!

This blessing, regardless of how we have been gifted it, requires effort in maintaining, and one from the myriad of the blissful practices we have as Believers is Salat and Salam on our Noble Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

“The greatest source of blessings and mercy for the Muslim and for all of mankind is Muhammad, the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace), sent as a Mercy to the Worlds. Muslims, as the most privileged recipients of this mercy, are required to invoke blessings (salat) upon him, and doing so holds great reward; the Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah will send ten blessings upon him” (Muslim). Abu Muhammad al-Marjani says, “Your invoking blessings upon him is in reality praying for yourself since the benefits of it are returning to you.”

According to the hadith master, Shams al-Din al-Sakhawi, the benefits of sending blessings on Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) are numerous: Allah, His angels, and His Messenger send mercy upon the one who invokes blessings. Such a person’s wrongdoings are expiated, his good deeds increased and purified, and his status elevated. Whoever makes it his complete regimen by day and night, both his worldly and otherworldly matters are taken care of. He is shown his abode in Paradise before his death, his wealth is increased, and more than one hundred needs of his are fulfilled . . .”

Following are the first eighteen of ninety-nine invocations of Blessings and Peace based on the Beautiful Names of Allah Ta’ala coupled with Prophetic Attributes, compiled by Shaykh Mawlana Yusuf ibn Sulayman Motala found in this delightful little publication.

In the name of Allah, Most Beneficent, Most Merciful

We have our ninety-nine beaded Tasbih, or Subhah plus a variety of other counters for tallying our daily Salawaat, as recommended by the majority of Shuyukh, past and present, providing a means to keep the thread of our connection to the Best of Creation SallAllahu alaihi wasallam as intimate as Allah Ta’ala Wills.

This digital tasbih is one I find most helpful when wanting to count into the thousands. It is a small, 6cm, extremely light weight little device with the facility to reach 999,999! I have some to post out to those who request same in the comments! Maybe some of you who aready use this would like to share your experiences.

Allahumma Salli Ala Sayyedina Al-Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam wa Ala Aalihi Wa Sahbihi wa salama wa Taslima.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

Durood ibn kasir [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 9:06 pm

The Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said:  My life is a great good for you, you will relate about me and it will be related to you, and my death is a great good for you, your actions will be exhibited to me, and if I see goodness I will praise Allah, and if I see evil I will ask forgiveness of Him for you.

Inspired by the precious lovers of HabibuLlahu SallAllahu alaihi wasallam’s comments expressing an intention to recite Durood ibn Kasir, I have posted it again in the hope that those who wish to devote some time on the eve of this Juma’ah, (based on your local time) will do so. You can either intend to complete a certain number, or depending on commitments, leave it open and see how many can be reached. Given that Yaumul Juma’ah in many countries is a working day it is understandable that there may be difficulties in achieving great numbers. May we have the hope that Allah Ta’ala sees the desire in the heart and accepts this, Ameen. Insha’Allah this is a collective effort, and Insha’Allah the rewards are written for each of us equivalent to the final total. If we reach the ten thousand collectively, may it be written that we all receive the benefits as stated below, Ameen. I realize that some may not wish to publically post the total they recite, nor want names to be known, so you can email me almiskeenah@gmail.com with your individual total.  Insha’Allah every little counts, even if only one read with Ikhlas. I will post the collective total during next week, Insha’Allah, and maybe think about the idea of doing this on a regular basis, maybe once a month. Insha’Allah you make Da’wah on the countless blessings received when invoking peace and greetings on our Beloved Nabi SallAllahu alaihiwasallam, and encourage children to establish the habit of participating. Alhumdulillah interest has been expressed from dear readers from four of the five continents! Masha’Allah. May we have each continent participating as a link across this tiny globe. Ameen.

Durood ibn Kasir Rahmatullah alaihi.

When the time of death arrived for Khalid ibn Kasir Rahmatullah alaihi people around him found a scroll made of paper with something emblazoned upon it. This was: “O Khalid ibn Kasir! You are liberated from the fire of hell.” When the people saw this piece of paper, they were greatly amazed and everyone immediately gathered at his house. They learnt about his excellence from his family members. Everyone became baffled and exclaimed: “What is this?” Thereupon his family members related that: “Khalid ibn Kasir Rahmatullah alaihi recited this Durood Sharif every eve of Juma’ah with the utmost reverence and sincerity. By virtue of this Allah Ta’ala informed him of his forgiveness and liberation from the fire of hell.” Therefore whosoever even now wishes to die as a faithful believer and also attain salvation, he should recite this Durood Sharif ten thousand times on the eve of Juma’ah. Then if Allah Ta’ala Wills, at the time of his death, he will die with Iman. Such Grace and Bounty will be bestowed upon him, that everyone will become baffled.

I also share two other Durood Sharif from the same book for your information.
Durood-e Barakat Katheera

This Durood Sharif is the bearer of superb abundance and favours. Many saints have stated: Whosoever recites this Durood Sharif in their daily practices with a true heart, then on the Day of Judgement he will be reckoned among the Righteous and the Martyrs. The virtues of this Durood Sharif is so vast that thousands and thousands of virtues are recorded on the utterance of a single letter. By the putity of this scared Durood Sharif, all the (minor) sins of the reader will be forgiven. If one recites this Durood Sharif in the state of sickness, then Allah Ta’ala will grant him recovery. This Durood Sharif is alos very effective for questions that are asked in the grave by the Angels Munkar and Nakir.

Durood-e Awwal

Allah, Exalted is He has made this Durood Sharif the most virtuous of all. The reader will not be deprived. Allah, Exalted is He will deliver him from all types of ailments and illnesses. HE will remove difficulties and will grant both worldly and religious success to the reader. The most special benefit of reciting this Durood Sharif excessively is that by the Will of Allah Ta’ala he will shun all his evil habits and experience pleasure in worship and become righteous.

If one wishes to reach his goal or achieve his objectives quickly then he should recite this Durood Sharif abundantly. This is a majestic Name and is readily accepted. Special slaves of Allah Ta’ala recite this Durood Sharif and they are reckoned in the  ‘Foremost Ranks’ of those who have sacrificed themselves for the most beloved Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. This is why this Durood Sharif is entitled the Foremost Holy Benediction.

May this humble effort bring a shine to the heart of the Ummah, Ameen

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. May He accept our humble efforts and grant us the capacity to be good and do good. Ameen.

respledent behind locks and grills [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 8:03 pm

Assuredly, you are of a most excellent character.  (68:4)

Resplendent behind locks and grills

forged on the blacksmiths anvil.

Swirls and spirals surround your hujrah,

Just as swirls of salutations spiral from around the globe

Forged from hearts passionately drunk with your pristine light.

An eminence no barriers can conceal.

A fragrance impossible to suppress

as multitudinous angel wings

sprinkle the earth and heavens

with an impregnated dust more precious than the entire creation.

O Allah! Caress the Taj of mankind, crowned by the qubba green.

O Allah! Bless the flag bearer of righteousness whose name You inscribed on Your Arsh.

O Allah! Shower Your favours on Your treasure whose name accompanies Yours in Salat, in the Adhan, in the Kalimah.

O Allah! Bestow Your choicest praises on the one You have honoured in Your Sacred Speech,

O Allah! Adorn Your Beloved, the first to ever be blessed by Your first ever blessing.

O Allah! Raise Your Habib to a station far beyond the leaves of the tress in Your Garden that bear his name.

O Allah! Glorify Your messenger, the spirit of justice, the bringer of peace, wisdom and truth, the paragon of all virtues.

O Allah! Unlock the shackles that hinder our closeness to Your shining star.

Our Lord! We believe in what You have Revealed and we follow the Messenger, so write us down among those who bear witness.  (3:53)

O Allah! Imprint the name of Your illustrious one in our hearts just as he has Your name embellished on his.

O Allah! Bless us with an intimate nearness. Ameen, Ameen, Ameen.

Ameen.

dream of Nabi SallAllahu alaihiwasallam 2 [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 7:23 pm

MEANS TO OBTAIN THE VISION OF THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH

SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

There are forty four means listed in this chapter (from The Key to Arriving at the Door of the Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam Vol.2*) They have been extracted from the book ‘Al-qubul fi wusul ila r’uyati Sayyidina Rasul of Shaykh Hassan Muhammad Shaddad ibn ‘Umar, may Allah Ta’ala reward him for his services to the Ummah.

Insha’Allah I post 17 at the moment. My typing Arabic is slow and made more tedious by adding the tashkeel, if Allah the Almighty wills more to be posted in the future Alhumdulillah, Alhumdulillah in all situations, Alhumdulillah, Alhumdulillah! (apologies for the small Arabic font….blogsome refuses to allow me to post otherwise, so I suggest that you copy/paste into word and then enlarge it, Insha’Allah)

The First Means:

The Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam said: ‘One who wishes to see me in their dream should recite:

َوما أرْسَاْنا مِنْ رَسولٍ إلاَّ لِيُطاعَ بِإذْنِ اللهِ ولوأنَّهم إذْ ظَّلَموا أنْفُسَهم جاءُوكَ فاسْتَغْفِرُوا اللهَ وسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ الرَّسولُ

لَوَجَدوا اللهَ تَوَّاباً رَّحِيماً

And we have not sent a messenger except that he should be obeyed by the permission of Allah. And if they had come to you when they had wronged themselves and sought the forgiveness of Allah and if the Messenger of Allah sought forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah, Relenting and Merciful. (4:64)’

The Second Means:

He SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: ‘One who recites the following salutation will see me in a dream:

اللهُمَّ صلِّ على سَيِّدِنا محمدٍ فى الأَرْواحِ وعلى جَسَدِهِ فى الأَجْسادِ وعلى قَبْرِهِ فى القُبُورِ

O Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad from among the spirits, upon his bodies and upon his resting place from among the resting places.

One who sees me a their dream will see me on the Day of Judgement, and the one who will see me on the Day of Judgement, I will intercede for them, and the one who receives my intercession will drink from my Hawd and their body will be protected from the Hellfire.’

Shaykh Abdusi Rahmatullah alaihi said that after the above salutation one should recite Sura Ikhlas, Sura Falaq and Sura Nas three times each and fall asleep without speaking in between.

The Third Means:

The Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam said: ‘One who sends blessings upon me on Friday, a thousand times with the following salutation:

صَلَّ اللهُ على سَيِّدِنا محمدٍ انَّبِىِِّ الأُمِّىِّ

May the blessings of Allah be upon our master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet.

will see either their Lord, their Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, or their place in Paradise. If this does not occur, then they should repeat it for two, three or five Fridays consecutively.’

The Fourth Means:

Abu al Mawahib ash-Shadhili Rahmatullah alaihi said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in a dream and he said to me: ‘When going to sleep recite, A’authu billahi minash shaitanir rajim….five times, and Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim….five times, then say:

اللهُمَّ أَرِنى وَجْهَ محمدٍ صلى الله عليه وسلم حالاً ومالاً

O Allah show me the face of (our master) Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam without delay.’

Surely I will come to you without fail, and one who wishes to see me should say: ‘Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam twenty two times when going to sleep.”

The Fifth Means: It has been related on the authority of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas RadhiAllahu anhu who said that Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam said: ‘Indeed a servant who performs two Rak’ah of prayer, after the Fatiha recites Sura Ikhlas 25 times, the (after he has finished) recites 1000 times:

صَلىَّ اللهُ على محمدٍ انَّبِىِِّ الأُمِّىِّ

May the blessings of Allah be upon (our master) Muhammad the unlettered Prophet.

The following Friday will not arrive until they see me in the dream. One who sees me, Allah forgives their sins.

The sixth Means:

The following salutation was given to Sayyidina Ali RadhiAllahu anhu from the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu laihi wasllam:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم يا النُّورَ انُّورِ صلِّ على سَيِّدِنا محمدٍ وعلى آلِ سَيِّدِنا محمدٍ صاحِبَ النُّور

In the name of Allah, who is ar-Rahman and ar-Rahim. O Light of Light. Send blessings upon our master Muhammad, the enlightened one and upon his family.

The seventh Means:

Imam al-Fayruzabadi has related in his book Salat wa al-bishr fi al-slat ala khair il-bashar, on the authority of Sayyidina Khide Alaihis Salam and Ilyas Alaihis Salam, who said that a man from Syria came to the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam and said: :O Messenger of Allah, my father is old and he would love to see you.” The Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam said: “Bring him to me.” He replied: “He is very weak of sight.” Rasulullah Sallahu alaihi wasallam said: “Tell him to recite for seven days:

صلِّى اللهُ على محمَّد

May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad.

and he will see me in a dream.” He did so and he saw the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in a dream.

The eighth Means:

One who recites Sura al-Qadar (97) 21 times at sunrise and at sunset, they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream.

The ninth Means:

One who recites Sura al-Kawthar (108) 1000 times in the night, they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream.

The tenth Means:

One who recites Sura al-Muzzammil  (73) 41 times, they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream.

The eleventh Means:

In the book Khazinat il-Asrar one of the scholars has mentioned: ‘One who recites Sura al-Qadar (97) 1000 times on Friday, they will not die until they see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam.

The twelfth Means:

One of the scholars has said that one who recites Sura al-Kawthar  (108) 1000 times and sends blessings upon the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam 1000 times on Thursday night, and then goes to sleep they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream.

The thirteenth Means:

One of the teachers has said: ‘One who recites Sura al-Quraish (106) 1000 times in the middle of Thursday night, then sleeps with ablution, they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream and their wish will be fulfilled.

The Fourteenth Means:

Sayyidina Ibn Abbas RadhiAllahu anhu said: “One who recites Sura al-Ikhlas (112) 1000 times in the night they will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream.

The Fifteenth Means:

One of the most effective supplications for seeing the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in the dream is this Du’a of Habib ‘Abd al-Qadir ibn Ahmad as Saqqaf:

In the name of Allah, who is ar-Rahman and ar-Rahim.O Allah, Lord of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. Unite us with Muhammad soon, O You who answers all prayers! O Allah, he is Your greatest door, and Your straightest path. There is no path except through this door, honour me by removing the veil. O Allah, do not deprive me of this vision, nor of seeing his face, nor denying me entering into his blessings, nor of gaining his solicitousness. Make me, O Allah, always under his gaze and make me close to him, O You who answers all prayers, O You who answers all prayers! All praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon our master Muhammad, his family and companions.

The sixteenth Means:

One who recites the following salutation 100 times on Thursday night, will see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam in their dream:

اللهُمَّ صَلِّ على سَيِّدِنا محمَّدٍ الفاتِحِ لِما أُغْلِقَ والخاتَمَ لِما سَبَقَ و النَّاصِرِ الحَقِّ بِالحَقِّ والهادى إلى صِراطِ المُسْتَقيمِ وعلى آلِهِ زحَقَّ قَدْرِهِ العَظيم

O Allah! Send blessing upon our master Muhammad, the Opener for what is closed, the seal of all that which has preceded, the Helper of Truth by the Truth, the Guide to Your straight path, peace and blessings upon him and his companions, according to his formidable standing.

The Seventeenth Means:

It has been related in ad-Dhakha’ir al-Muhammadiyyah that one who wishes that to see the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam should recite the following 100 times:

اللهُمَّ إنى أسْألُكَ بِنورِ الأنْوار الَّذي هُوَ عَيْنُكَ لا غيرُكَ أنْ تَريني وجْهَ نَبيِّكَ سَيِّدِنا محمَّد صَلَّ اللهُ عليهِ وآلِهِ وسَلِّم كما هُوَ عِنْدَكَ

O Allah, I ask You by the light of lights, who is You beloved and not other than that, to show me the face of Your Prophet, our master Muhammad. May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him and his family, as those blessings are known to You.

I will finish this post with a witr number, Allah Ta’ala loving odd numbers….if there is a demand for the complete forty four means, do comment, and Insha’Allah I will try to post them all over time.

Some of the above specify the night of Juma’ah to be auspicious for reciting these means, and Allah the Almighty knows best. JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

May we make the most of this Shaban, the month of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam a time for increasing all of our salutations upon him, Ameen.

And a timely reminder, to me first, from the same book:

The Doors of Repentance are Open.

“Make haste, make haste, O beloved of the Messenger of Allah Sallahu alaihi wasallam! The doors of repentance are open, and Allah is the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful, He accepts the repentance of His servants, and He forgives sins. Do not forget your share of the temporal world, and act with excellence, just as Allah favours you with excellence, getup, strive, endure and be patient!”

May we all take these next few “seconds” available to us as we approach the glory of Ramadhan to be polishing the heart more than usual, Ameen!

JUMA’AH MUBARAK!

Allahumma salli wa sallim da’iman abadan ‘alaa habibika khairil khalqi kullihimi.

Ameen.

once again this "dear" blogsome, using its "free will" decides to go all bold on me! Khair…ummm…

dream of Nabi SallAllahu alaihiwasallam 1 [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 9:38 pm

“Shaban is my month” said our Blessed Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, an excellent time for us to increase our Durood upon him as we prepare for “Ramadhan, the month of my Ummah”, as he SallAllahu alaihi wasallam continued in the Hadith, when Insha’Allah we reap all that we have previously sown.

As-salamu alayka ya habibi sayyidi,

As-salamu alayka ya nabi al-arabi

Ya Habibi Sayyidi

As-salamu alayka ya habibi sayyidi

As-salamu alayka ya nabi al-arabi

As-salamu alayka ya shafial-muznibin

As-salamu alayka rahamtallah lilaalamin.

And how it is that the lover excessively reciting Durood upon the light of lights SallAllahu alaihi wasallam would be in ecstatic raptures to be gifted the vision of the beloved, SubhanAllah

Abu Hurairah RadhiAllahu anhu narrates: The Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: "Whoever has seen me in a dream, has in fact seen me, for Shaytan does not appear in my form"

And Ibn Abbas RadhiAllahu anhu said, "Allah’s Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam used to say, ‘Shaytan is unable to imitate my form, so whoever dreamt that they saw me, actually saw me’.

To see our beloved master, the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a dream is certainly very virtuous and a blessing from Allah Most High upon the person who was fortunate to see him.

Yes, thoughts of the beloved came to me at night and kept me awake

And love transforms pleasure into pain.

Imam Busayri.

Read how Imam Busayri’s dream of our Blessed Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was the inspiration for his impassioned Burda.

There is an extensive section, Receiving the Vision of the Prophet Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in “The Key to Arriving at the Door of the Messenger”  Masha’Allah, I have been given the permission to post selections from this. (If you would like to purchase copies then please leave a comment and I will pass your details to one of the suppliers, Insha’Allah.)

There was a man in the blessed city of Madinah Al-Munawwarah who saw the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in his dream. He had written a book on the blessed life of the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. While he was composing this book, he saw the messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in his dream and he was delighted. He saw him with lights (anwar) but he had never seen lights of this kind before with the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. During the dream he was confused as to whether this was actually the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam or not. This thought had never even left him when the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam called out to him and said: ‘I am the Messenger of Allah  SallAllahu alaihi wasallam!’

May glad tidings be upon him with this manifest light, whom Allah, Exalted is He, sent as a mercy to mankind, who shines like the sun upon them. The more one’s insight becomes radiant, the more the light will increase.

The light of the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam manifests to the believers when their hearts have been purified, their characters become virtuous and noble upon performing all of the obligatory acts. All of those who love Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam will see him, and when they become humble before Allah Ta’ala and respectful with the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, then Allah Ta’ala will reveal him to them whenever He pleases and wills.

A person should not get worried if they do not see the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a dream. There are states that Allah, Exalted is He, has knowledge of, He only wishes well of His servant. It is enough merit and honour if Allah Ta’ala has given you the success and ability (tawfiq) to recite the Qur’an, to seek forgiveness (istighfar) and to send blessings and peace upon the chosen Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

The author of Mafatih al-Mafatih says: “If you are not fortunate with receiving the vision of the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam despite doing all that is required, then do not worry, it is sufficient that you have received the great blessing of Allah Ta’ala by remembering Him, reciting His Book, sending blessings upon His Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and yearning to see him. You have taken all the means for the vision but you have not received the vision of the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, such a person is higher in rank than one who does see him. He is the noble beloved, he does not disappoint those who yearn to see him.”

The final section on this topic includes forty four means to obtain the vision of our Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Insha’Allah I intend to post some of these in the next post.

An extract from Dreaming of the Holy Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam:

It is very fortunate to see the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam in a dream but two points should well be considered in this connection. The first, as written by Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi rahmatullahi alaihe in his book ‘Nish-rut-tib’, is as follows: It is really a source of great consolation and a great favour for a person who has not seen the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam live, to see him in a dream. However, it should be borne in mind that it cannot be acquired; rather it is granted by Allah. A Persian poet says:

"This felicity cannot be earned through strength but only when Allah grants and bestows."

Many people have devoted their whole lives in the hope of this fortune. One might have succeeded if he sends Durood upon the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam abundantly and follows his ways with love and eagerness. Nevertheless, if a person is not successful, he should not be worried because it may be due to some unknown Wisdom and the Mercy of Allah. A lover only wants the pleasure of his beloved whether it is because of union or due to separation. As a poet rightfully says:

"I want a meeting with him (the beloved) but he wants separation, and I leave my pleasure for his pleasure."

Shirazi, a Persian poet and Mystic says, "Meeting or separation have no value in comparison to the pleasure of the beloved; and to seek any other thing than his pleasure is an offence (in love)."

There are numerous stories from our learned predecessors recounting their experiences of dreams of the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in Virtues of Salaat alan Nabi. (2)

Story number 27: Ibrahim Nasafi Rahmatullah alaihi relates: On one occasion I saw Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a dream. It appeared as if he was displeased with me. I stretched forth my hands, took the hands of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in mine and kissed them. I asked in great anxiety, “O Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam I am indeed one of the servants of Hadith. I belong to the Ahlus Sunnah, those who follow your way, I am a traveler from afar. Have compassion on me. Have I displeased you?” Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam smiled and said: “Whenever you recite Salaat, why do you not recite salaam?” Thereafter it became a fixed habit of mine to recite ‘wasallam’ as well.

Story number 34: Abu Ali Hasan ibn Ali Attar Rahmatullah alaihi says: Abu Taahir Rahmatullah alaihi gave me a few scripts of Ahadith. I saw therein that whenever the name of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was mentioned salaat alan Nabi was written in these words:

Bestow mercy O Allah upon him (Muhammad) and (bestow) peace and Your pleasure abundantly, abundantly, abundantly.

I then asked Abu Taahir Rahmatullah alaihi: “Why do you write salaat on the Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam like that?” He replied: “In my youth I used to write Ahadith and I did not write salaat alan Nabi with the name of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. I then once saw Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a dream and greeted him, but he turned his face away from me. Then I came to him from the other side and again greeted him, but once more he turned his face away from me. Once again for the third time I approached him from the front and inquired: ‘O Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam why do you turn your face away from me?’ He replied: ‘It is because that whenever you write my name in your book you do not offer salaat on me.’ Since that time it has become my habit that whenever I write the name of the Rasool SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, I also wrote:

Bestow mercy O Allah upon him (Muhammad) and (bestow) peace and Your pleasure abundantly, abundantly, abundantly.

And,  The Perfect Mirror - CD (Dreaming of the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam) Muahmmad al-Yaqoubi

In this fascinating talk, after some introductory comments about the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu `alayhi wa salam) and who he was, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi describes over ninety ways the Prophet (sal Allahu `alayhi wa salam) appears in people’s dreams, giving the interpretation of each dream: If you see the Prophet (sal Allahu `alayhi wa salam) with his hands open, you will perform Hajj. If you see him leaning, your worries and difficulties will be removed. If he hands you a book, you will become a teacher. If he gives you bread, you will attain wealth. If he offers you honey, you will memorize the Qur’an. If he appears beardless or having a short beard, it means you lack righteousness and should strive to improve. If you see him while you are pregnant, you will have a boy and thus should name him Muhammad. If you see him in the middle of the night, you will be a wali of Allah (friend of God) in your forties. These are just a few examples of the many dreams of the Prophet (sal Allahu `alayhi wa salam) Shaykh Muhammad interprets during this amazing talk. In addition, he explains how anyone who tries to add to the praises of the Prophet (sal Allahu `alayhi wa salam) is attempting the impossible, because there are no praises beyond the praises of Allah.

blessings of Salawaat [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 8:53 pm

“O you Mercy for the worlds! Out of the ocean of certitude

Do you grant pearls to the dustborn, peace to the fishes!”

(Rumi Diwan no. 2443)

To send Durood on our Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is the most loved deed and the most pleasing from of worship. Hafiz Shamsuddin Sakhawai Rahmatullah alaihi collected Ahadith on the virtues and blessings of Durood in ‘Al-Qaul-ul-Badi’.  The following is a summary of these virtues and blessings.

“When we send Durood on our Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam we derive these blessings:

·         Allah Ta’ala showers His mercy and His Angels and our Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam send their blessings on the one reciting Durood.

·         Durood is an atonement of omissions.

·         There is an increase in good deeds and they are purified.

·         Ranks are elevated.

·         Sins are forgiven.

·         Durood itself seeks forgiveness for the recitor.

·         A reward equal to Jabal Uhud is credited to his account; this reward is known as the Reward of Qeerat.

·         His reward is measured in the most perfect of Scales.

·         The person whose wazifah is nothing but recital of Durood finds that all his affairs of this world and the Hereafter are looked after for him.

·         Lapses by him are obliterated.

·         Recital of Durood is superior (in terms of reward) to the releasing of slaves from bondage.

·         Because of recital of Durood, the recitor is relieved from the horror of the Day of Resurrection.

·         The Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam will be the witness of the recitor, and intercession will be obligatory on him SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

·         He will obtains the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy.

·         He will be safe from Allah Ta’ala’s anger.

·         He will be assured of a place in the shade of the Throne of Allah Ta’ala.

·         On the Day of Judgement, the Balance will tilt for him towards pious deeds.

·         He will find a place at the fountain of Kawthar.

·         He will not feel thirsty and will be secure from the Fire.

·         He will pass over the bridge of Sirat swiftly.

·         Before his death, he will see the precincts of his abode in Jannah.

·         He will wed a Houri of Jannah.

·         The recital of Durood is more meritorious than participating in Jihad of twenty ghazwat.

·         For a poor person who cannot pay it, Durrod is as though he offered sadaqah.

·         Durood is Zakat and purity.

·         As a result of its blessings, wealth increases.

·         More than one hundred desires are fulfilled.

·         This is a form of worship that is pleasing to Allah Ta’ala, more than any other form of worship.

·         It is an ornament for gatherings.

·         It removes poverty and deficiency of livelihood.

·         By virtue of it, opportunities are found to do good.

·         More than any other, the recitor of Durood attains nearness to our Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

·         Its recital bequeaths benefits not only to the recitor but also to his children and their children.

·         He also gains benefit to whom its reward is bequeathed by the recitor.

·         Durood draws its recitor nearer to Allah Ta’ala and His Messenger SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

·         It is Nur.

·         By virtue of its recital, the reader gains the upper hand over his enemies.

·         It cleanses the heart of hypocrisy and rust.

·         It creates love in the heart for the reader.

·         The recitor sees the Noble Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in his dreams, Insha’Allah.

·         It protects the reader from backbiting of others.

·         In short, it is among those deeds that are most blessed of all deeds and most superior. These deeds are rewarded in this life and in the Hereafter.

Apart from these, there are many benefits and rewards of Durood that are enough to induce a person of understanding who is eager to amass good deeds and receive beautiful fruits as rewards, through deeds that guarantee such high excellences, noble praises, and numerous benefits that cannot be expected of any other deed or saying. Mat Allah Ta’ala bless him and give him peace, complete peace.”

Shaykh Abdul Haqq Muhaddis Dehlavi Rahmatullah alaihi wrote in his ‘Jazb-ul-Quloob ila Diyar-il-Mahboob’ that many Shuyukh have coined eloquent words for Durood. The following are from this collection.

“O Allah! Bless Muhammad among the foremost. And bless Muhammad among the successors. And bless Muhammad among the Prophets. And bless Muhammad among the Messengers. And bless Muhammad among the Angels, until the Day of Judgement. O Allah! Grant Muhammad the waseelah and excellence and nobility and the higher status. And send him to the Praiseworthy position. O Allah! I have believed in Muhammad and have not seen him so do not deprive me of his sight in Paradise. Let his love be my portion. Cause me to die in his faith. And give me to drink from his fountain, a drink that is tasteful, pleasing and blessed, such that after that I may never feel thirsty. Indeed, You are the powerful over all things. O Allah! Convey to the soul of Muhammad, and his family, greetings from us. O Allah! As I have believed in him, and not seen him, so do not deprive me of seeing him in Paradise.”

“O Allah! Bless Muhammad who is a mine of generosity and nobility and a fountainhead of knowledge and wisdom, and bless his family and his Companions, and send peace upon him.”

O Allah! Bless our master Muhammad and the family of our master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet whom You have sent as a mercy to the worlds and chosen over the entire creation, so much blessings that equal Your knowledge and fills up all that You know and is equal to the weight of all that You know, and is equal to Your creation and fourfold of every atom, repeating a thousand times, at every breath, second, moment, and on every flicker of the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth. And on his family and his Companions. And peace be upon him.”

“O Allah! Bless Muhammad until the days and nights keep changing, and the noon and the afternoon follow each other, and the nights and days keep arriving, and the stars keep up the company of one another. And convey to his soul, and to the souls of the people of his house, our greetings and salutations.”

“My wish is this, that when I die

I still may smile,

And while I go, Muhammad’s name

Be on my tongue.”

from darkness to light [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 9:58 pm

….bringing them from darkness out into light, by His will, and guiding them to a straight path. (5:16)

We sent you as a witness, a bringer of good news and a warner, one who calls to Allah with His permission and a light-giving lamp. (33:46)

It is related from Jaabir RadhiAllahu anhu that he said: "I once saw Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wassalam on the night of a full moon. On that night he wore red clothing. At times I looked at the full moon and at times at Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wassalam. Ultimately I came to the conclusion that Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wassalam was more handsome, beautiful and more radiant than the full moon."

"If the illumination in the temple and sanctuary is through  the sun and moon, so what.
I desire you, what should I do with my sight."

Abu-Ishaaq RadhiAllahu anhu says: "A person once asked Baraa bin Aazib RadhiAllahu anhu, "Was the face of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wassalam shining like a sword?" He replied: "No, but like a full-moon with its roundness."

O Allah! O The Light of the heavens and the earth
Bestow blessings and peace on the one you created from Your Light
and forgive my sins and fill my heart with
the light of Your Knowledge and the knowledge that is with You,
and (bestow blessings and peace as well)
on his family and companions.

And every miracle that the noble prophets performed is derived from his SallAllahu alaihi wassalam’s light.

Finally his light dawned on the horizon,

And his radiant guidance suffused the world and brought life to

Countless civilizations.

Imam al-Busayri, Burdah

The Emissary of Allah Ta’ala SallAllahu alaihi wassalam said: "The Angels invoke blessing upon him who invokes blessing upon me, for as long as he invokes blessing upon me. So let him increase or decrease [blessing] by the Angels [upon himself as he pleases]

"The closest of people to me is he who invokes blessing upon me the most."

"Verily there are Angels hovering over the earth who carry to me the greeting for peace from my Ummah."

"No one asks for peace upon me but that Allah returns my spirit to me so that I may return the prayer to him."

Al_Ghazali

Ya Rabb! With the Waseela of Your chosen Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wassalam, fulfill our goals and forgive our past sins. Ameen.

virtues of salaat alan nabi [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 2:25 am

It is reported by Ka’ab RadhiAllahu anhu that 70,000 Angels descend on the Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa’s SallAllahu alaihi wasallam Masjid daily, surround it and touch it with their heavenly wings, and continue reciting Durood Shareef and leave for the heavens in the evening. They are replaced by another 70,000 Angels who stay till dawn to be replaced by another 70,000 angels in the morning, and each Angel cannot return after its initial visit. This process will keep continuing until the Day of Judgement. A rough calculation reveals that to date almost 70 billion Angels have been sent by Allah Almighty to the Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa’s SallAllahu alaihi wasallam Masjid to read Durood Shareef upon him. Allahu ‘Alum, and only Allah Almighty knows how many more will be sent until the Day of Judgement. This is indeed an indication of the utmost highest regard Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala has for His Most Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Therefore we must not under-rate the significance, importance and the merits of reading Durood Shareef for our Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

The Ummah is indeed blessed because it has been given the opportunity to send Durood Shareef on the Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

Durood Shareef is a special kind of Du’a, a special kind of Dhikr dear to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Therefore if we read Durood Shareef and ask of something from Allah Almighty, then what we ask for has a better chance of being accepted by Allah Almighty. Insha’Allah.

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Hadrat Imam Shaf’i Rahmatullah alaihi has declared, ‘ What I love is that one should recite Durood Shareef abundantly under all circumstances.’

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Ghawth Al-A’dham Sayyadina Abd ‘al-Qadir al-Jilani Rahmatullah alaihi has declared, ‘ O ‘ faithful make Mosques and Durood Shareef for the Beloved Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam incumbent on you.’

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Allama Qustulani Rahmatullah alaihi interpreter of Sahih Al-Bukhari has stated, ‘ The best, the most sublime, the most excellent, the most exquisite, the most consummate recital is the recital of Durood Shareef for the Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddiq RadhiAllahu anhu has narrated that, ‘Reciting Durood Shareef upon the Beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam erases sins in the same manner that water extinguishes a fire’.

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Story 35 from "Virtues of Salaat Alan Nabi, SallAllahu alaihi wasallam" by Shaikhal Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhlawi.

Abu Hafs Samarqandi Rahmatullah alaihi writes in his book, ‘Rownaqul Majaalis’, "In Balkh there lived a merchant of great wealth and substance. When he passed away his two sons divided his estate among themselves equally. Among the inheritance there were also three hairs of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Each took one hair and the elder brother suggested that they cut the third one in half, each then taking one piece. This suggestion filled the younger brother with distress and he exclaimed, ‘No never shall that be done, the blessed hair of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam shall not be cut.’ The elder then suggested, ‘Will you be satisfied that these three hairs come to you as your portion of inheritance, while I take the rest of the estate?’ The younger brother agreed to this with great pleasure and satisfaction. The elder brother then acquired all that the father had left behind. The younger brother had the three hairs. He kept those hairs on his person at all times. Very often he took them out, looked at them and recited Salaat on the Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

Not long afterwards the elder brother had squandered and exhausted all his wealth, while the younger brother became very wealthy. When after some time the younger one died, someone from among the saintly ones saw a dream wherein Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam appeared to him and said, ‘If there be anyone with any kind of need, let him proceed to the grave of this person, sit down there and beg of Allah Ta’ala his need."

This same story is told in ‘Nuzhatul Majaalis’, but with a slight addition. The story there says that when the elder brother became a pauper and saw Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in a dream, he complained to him of great poverty. Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam told him, ‘O unfortunate one, you turned away from my hair and your brother accepted them and whenever he looked at them he recited Salaat on me. For this reason Allah Ta’ala has made him most fortunate, both in this world and in the Hereafter.’ When the elder brother awoke he went forth and became one of the servants of his younger brother."

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

Story 36

A woman came to Imam Hasan al-Basri Rahmatullah alaihi and said to him, "O Imam my young daughter has passed away. My desire is to see her in a dream, show me how this is possible." He told her, "When you have performed Esha Salat, perform four nafl rakaats. Recite in each of then Surah Fatihah and Surah At-Takaathur, then lie down to sleep, and continue to recite Salaat on the Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, until you fall asleep."

The woman did as she was advised and that night she saw he daughter in a dream, and she was very mush distressed to see her suffering great torment. She was pathetically covered in tar, her hands bound, and the feet tied in hot chains of fire. When she woke she hastened to Hasan al-Basri Rahmatullah alaihi and in great anguish told him what she had seen. He told her to give charity on behalf of her daughter, and perhaps Allah Ta’ala would pardon her through your Sadaqah.

The following day Hasan al-Basri Rahmatullah alaihi saw the girl in a dream. He saw a most beautiful garden and therein on a throne of great splendour he saw a very attractive maiden sitting with a shining crown on her head. She asked him, "O Hasan, do you recognize me?" he replied, "No, I do not." She said, "I am the daughter of that lady whom you advised to continue reciting Salaat alan Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam until she falls asleep." Hasan said, "But your mother had told me of your condition and what she had said is the very opposite of this." She replied, "yes, that was my situation, as explained by my mother." Hasan asked, "How did you reach this rank?" She replied, "Seventy thousand of us were in that torment, then a saintly man passed our graveyard. He recited salaat on the Nabi SallAllahu alaihi wasallam once and bequeathed the reward thereof to us. That salaat on Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam was so much appreciated by Allah Ta’ala that he set us all free from the torment and punishment, and it is though the blessings of that saintly man that this rank has been attained."

O RABB, SHOWER SALAAT AND SALAAM FOREVER AND EVER UPON YOUR BELOVED, WHO IS THE BEST OF ALL CREATION.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Ameen.

Imam al-Haddad’s qasida [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 4:00 pm

Durood

The following is from "The Key to Arriving at The Door of The Messenger" by Shaykh Muhammad Sadiq Alawi, Volume 2.
Published by Dar al Hawa 2006 Damascus.
This delightful publication was recently presented as a gift, SubhanAllah, from a lover of Mustafa SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Please remember the giver, the author, all mentioned in this book, all involved in the publishing, the recipient and our Beloved Messenger, SallAllahu alaihi wasallam in your Du’a. May Allah Ta’ala make us all worthy to receive the key to enable us to arrive at his SallAllahu alaihi wasallam door. Ameen Ameen Ameen.

Qasidia: Ya Rasul Allah Ya Ahl al-Wafaa.

O Messenger of Allah, the one who fulfills trusts, by Qutb u’l Irshad Sayyiduna Imam al-Habib ‘Abdallah ibn ‘Alawi al-Haddad RahmatuLlah alaihi.

Imam al-Haddad’s famous poem was written during a drought at the end of the month of Jumada al-Ula in 1192AH. In it he seeks the intercession of the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, and by his SallAllahu alaihi wasallam blessing, Allah Ta’ala sent rain. The Imam said: "If one has need, then they should recite it with the intention of fulfilling their need, for surely it will be granted, if Allah, Exalted be He, wills. Before reciting the Qasida begin with the recitation of Surah Ya Sin."

He, RahmatuLlah alaihi would recite this Qasida every night, in times of drought, and continue to do so until there was relief; thereafter he would recite

"O Mercy of Allah visit me, and honour us with your presence and heal my people who are living in constriction and difficulty."

And he would say: "I have experienced the receiving of rain and received more of that which precedes it; hidden mercy."

O Messenger of Allah, the one who fulfills trusts,

O one of great character, O ocean of purity.

You are, after Allah, the blessing that is inspired for

And a refuge O chosen one, O Mustafa,

O seal of the messengers, O best of mankind,

O the one who is swift in help, come to those who have fallen into error.

Your guilty servant, who has incurred sins

By distractions and turning away.

And had thrown him into the oceans of grief,

Its waves rise up from every direction.

He comes to you, fleeing from his sins

And from the era that has aggrieved.

And from the period in which states have changed

In which, one’s direction is seized.

And from the suffering that has destroyed

And from the sorrow that has surrounded.

And the tribulations and the worries from

Which there is no relief except for your care and sufficiency.

So help me with an aid that is swift,

And to see me, O the most noble of the noble.

See to my faults and rectify me,

And aid me, O Imam of those who declare the Oneness of Allah,

And protect me of everything that I should be cautious of

In livelihood and for the Hereafter, that is near.

And solicit ar-Rahman for me and my needs

That have burdened the soul.

You are the door to Allah, from whom the hopeful ones receive,

And there is protection for the one who stands by it

You are the rope of Allah, for those to hold fast,

Who are victorious with blessings and promises fulfilled.

O messenger of Allah, O sun of guidance,

By you, every harm is removed.

O messenger of Allah, O ocean of generosity

Every kind of generosity from you is known.

O messenger of Allah, (by whom) barrenness, drought

And distress on the earth is removed.

O messenger of Allah, the excessiveness has destroyed

The feeble ones, the abstinent and the poor.

The years of emaciation have destroyed them

They are all seeking therein a cure.

Amongst them, the affluent and the rich,

Were extremely miserly, reprehensible and bad.

Their miserliness did not invite them to spend

In the way of Allah, a donation that remains.

So the needy ones remained,

Like fish in a sea that has become dry.

The One Who determined all of this

Deterred from them due to the excessive sins.

So seek forgiveness for them O my master

Your Lord, the All-Compassionate is more generous

To the one who is free from sins.

Pray to Him that He may send down rain for them,

And for their forgetfulness of Him.

And that the people love righteously in it

Thanking Allah openly and in secret.

Intercede O Messenger of Allah for

Relief from this distress, until He removes it.

As you have an exalted rank with Him

And you have immense and encompassing glory.

Lord, be kind to us by the honour of Mustafa

Send us rain, as we are weak.

We have disobeyed, pardon us

And accept from one who is guilty and confesses.

Remove the barrenness from the earth

Together with the sins and the injustice that has intensified.

Give victory to the religion and guide its people

And the people of authority.

O Generous, O Bountiful and Glorious

O Merciful, O Kind, favour us.

O Knower, O Forbearing and Excellent

O Compassionate, Whose compassion is known.

The One Who gives most generously, and favours,

Who is known for this and is described by it.

May the blessings of Allah encompass Ahmad

The one for whom the fire of idolatry and disbelieve has been

extinguished.

Together with the peace of Allah and His blessings

May it also be upon his noble and honourable family,

And the Companions and their followers, forever.

May You spread from it a sweet and gentle breeze which cures and

Relieves a diseased heart.

Transliteration of one of the Salutations of Imam ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Alawi Al-Haddad RahmatuLlah alaihi on the photograph of Rowdha Shareef:
Alluhumma Salli ‘alaa Sayyidna Muhammad wa ‘alaa Aali Sayyidna Muhammad ‘adada kulli dharRatin alfi marRatin.
Translation: O Allah send blessings upon our master Muhammad and upon the descendants of our master Muhammad by the number of each atom a thousand times.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Ameen.

Salawaat and Salam
.

hardened words

with a glint of steel thrash about

trapped

in the hollow vault of the mind.

relentlessly

jack hammering,

pounding,

the thinking process.

gnashing hashing.

synapses flare.

a wild fury

igniting

a cantankerous vacuum.

a cataclysmic explosion

shatters this false obsession.

replaced by

HIS PRESENCE

burnishing the heart

with silk from the Tooba Tree.

ecstasy fashions the tangible

into nothingness.

existence reduced to HIM

and HIS Master on the path towards His Divine Presence,

the beloved whose whole being is light,

the truthful inviter to the truth with the truth.

Allahumma Salli ‘alaa Sayyidina Muhammad-in-i’l-Hameedi’l Mahmood

O Allah! Shower blessings on Sayyidina Muhammad,
the praiseworthy and the praised one,
the help of whose secret is never cut off
and is uncountable;
who is noble in his presence;
whose birth was the most significant
and the best among all births;
the best among the Messengers of Allah,
the nearest among those drawn near
and the best in all creation,
the best among all those who are perfect
and the best in all humanity
whose sacred mystery was that he sojourned
into the realm of souls and hearers.
One’s heart does not become alive except with his zikr (rememberance).
There is no one who is far away, except he brings him near.
He is closer to one than everyone else who is close
and most beloved of all those loved.
He is the life of all souls,
the door of graciousness and victories;
and indeed a big open door (of magnanimity),
the secret of secrets, and the light of lights,
and the key to the gate of ease and abundance
and the one who combined in himself all wonderful qualities;
the life of souls and hearts.

All good is from Allah Ta’ala whereas mistakes are from this humble speck. May Allah Ta’ala Bless all readers, bringing you all closer to Him and His Rasul SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Ameen.

Durood [salawaat] — almiskeenah @ 12:04 am

Allah and His Angels bless the Prophet, so you who believe, bless him too, and give him greetings of peace. (33:57)

Durood. Such a Divine practice, as Allah Ta’ala Himself acts upon this command. This is the Suunah of Allah Ta’ala. As the glory of Allah Ta’ala is the highest and most exulted, so His Sunnah is also the highest and most exulted. The Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam is the most cherished devotee of Allah Ta’ala, the most revered amongst all of creation. Sending Salat and Salam, blessings and greetings upon the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam, being the Sunnah of Allah Ta’ala, is deemed to be the most glorified and esteemed act compared to others. A Divine practice that Insha’Allah, we are never neglectful of, and which the heart is aspiring to ever increase.

Masjid Abi Dhar, also known as Masjid Sajdah, is approximately 900 metres north of Masjid Nabawi. At the time of the Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam it was a garden of the Baitul-Maal. It is narrated that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Auf RadhiAllahu anhu was praying behind Rasulullah SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam, when he went into a very long prostration. After Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Auf RadhiAllahu anhu said to the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam: "Oh prophet of Allah you prostrated for so long that I feared Allah Ta’ala had taken your soul." The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam said: "Jibrael Alaihi Salam came with a message from Allah Ta’ala: "he who sends salutations and peace upon you, I shall send mercy and blessings upon him," I prostrated in gratitude of this bounty of Allah Ta’ala."

Visiting such sacred places one if full of awe and reverence, tears fill the eyes, with the knowledge that our Most Blessed of the blessed SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam’s noble head was touching this very ground for his love of The Creator and for his SallAllahu alaihi wasallam for his Ummah. May our Iman be forever on the increase reliving over and over again the life of the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wasallam.

Sayyiduna Anas RadhiAllahu anhu said: "Every Du’a is prevented from reaching the court of Allah Ta’ala until the person making Du’a sends Durood upon Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam and upon the family of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam."

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Ma’sud RadhiAllahu anhu also narrates that Sayyiduna Rasulullah  SallAllahu alaihi wasallam said: "On the Day of Qiyamah, the closest to me from among the people will be those who have read the most amount of Durood Shareef". (Tirmidhi)

Sayyiduna Umar Radhiallahu anhu said: "Surely Dua’ remains suspended between the heaven and the earth. It does not ascend and nothing is accepted until you send Salawaat upon your Prophet SallAllahu alaihi wasallam."

Our Sacred Knowledge resources enumerate numerous Ahadith expounding the virtues of a heart which is steadfastly occupied with sending Durood to our Beloved Master, SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

Sheikhul Dalail Syed Ali bin Yusuf Madani Rahmatullahi alaihi, narrated from Jalaluddin Suyuti Rahmatullahi alaihi, that reciting the following Durood once will earn the thawab of reciting Duroods equal to 600,000. This Durood is known as Salatus Sa’adat.
The thawab is unimaginable, for Allah Ta’ala is capable of increases beyond our comprehension, in unlimited numbers.

O Allah send blessings on our Master, our Liege Lord, Muhammad, as much as Allah’s knowledge, eternal blessings; lasting as long as Allah’s Kingship.

This needy greedy humble speck is hoping that all who read this entry will instill in their heart the intention to recite Durood more frequently, more passionately, more earnestly, more emotionally, more fervently, more glowingly, more deliriously, more exhilaratingly, more lovingly, more ecstatically, more more more more!

Insha’Allah, as you look at the photo above, allow the "wings" of your heart to transport your yearning to be near to our Beloved Habibul Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam. Permit all senses of the heart to be submerged in the radiance of the light, the fragrance of the breeze, the sacredness of the earth, the velvety air, pleasing the ears with the delights of being so near.

Allah Ta’ala knows our longing. He is The Glorious, The Aware, The Enricher, giving sustenance to the wayfarer. Travel now, entering a new realm of intimacy with Muhammad, the Praised One, the Most Praised, The Praiser, The Best of Creation The Mercy to the World, our Master on the journey towards His Divine Presence, our Intercessor on the Day of Judgement. SallAllahu alaihi wasallam.

O Allah, bless the soul of our master Muhammad among the souls, and bless his body among the bodies, and his grave among the graves and his family and companions, and grant them peace.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad whenever those who do dhikr mention him.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad whenever those who neglect his dhikr neglect it.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad, the Unlettered Prophet and his wives, the mothers of the believers, and his offspring and the People of his House with a blessing and peace whose quantity is not counted and whose help is not cut off.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad in quantities great as what Your knowledge encompasses and Your Book contains with a blessing which is Yours as a pleasure and his as payment, and give him the means of mediation and virtue and high degree, and raise him up, O Allah, to the praiseworthy station which You promised him and reward him from us what he deserves, and bless all his brothers, the Prophets and truthful ones, martyrs and righteous.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad and put him in the closest position on the Day of Rising.

O Allah, bless our master Muhammad.

Dala’il al-Khayrat by Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Sulayman ibn Abi Bakr al-Jazuli al-Simlali  (d. 870/1465)
